Information concerning our shrine and satsang programmes


The heart of the Centre's activities is the Sri Ramakrishna Shrine at the Durban Centre. Daily spiritual programmes in the Shrine consists of mangal arati and chanting (4:00 a.m.); puja (6:30 a.m.); food offerings at noon; evening arati, hymns, readings and silent meditation (5:00 p.m.). The weekly satsang, held on Saturdays (4:00 - 5:30 p.m.) includes pranam mantras, bhajans, kirtans, discourses, scripture readings, meditation, chanting of stotrams, hymns to the Holy Trinity and Arati. Guided Meditation on Sundays (3:45-5:00pm) The Sri Sarada Devi Women's Circle at Durban Centre chants the Sri Sarada Devi Stotram (Prakritim Paramam) on Fridays. The Hanuman Chalisa is recited eleven times on a quarterly basis. On the birth anniversaries (tithi) of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda, as well as on Hanuman Jayanti and Ganesh Chaturti, day-long japa yajna is observed. All Sub-Centres/Satsang Groups conduct weekly prayer services and observe all religious celebrations.
